The reason for the season

Wenn and I made this cake on Christmas Eve. She picked a picture out of a cake book, chose the colors and helped make sure the icing tasted just right. We sang "Happy Birthday" and she got to blow out the candles. It was a fun way to celebrate Christmas!

Christmas fun

Just a couple pictures of the holiday festivities. The top picture is of Wenn in her Princess Alexa outfit. She is obsessed with the Barbie Diamond Castle movie. The second is Wenn shaving with her new shaving kit. She helps Andy shave in the morning and this way it is much safer. The third is Wenn and Jacob playing with Jacob's new remote control T-Rex. It was a great Christmas and so much fun because Wenn actually understood everything this year.

Wishing everyone a Happy New Year!

The Wiseman and the Angel

Andy and Wenn were in our church program Sunday night. Andy was a wiseman and Wenn was an angel. I guess they didn't need a Mary Great with Child because I would have been perfect for that part!

He did it!

Andy ran the St. Jude marathon Saturday and did great! He finished in 3 hours 34 minutes and 28 seconds. There were 43 people from Greenville that ran either the half-marathon or the whole. The first picture is a group shot of some of the people from Greenville. The second picture is Andy, Matt Kirkpatrick, Chad Freeman and Phillip Doiron. These crazy four have trained together since the beginning and as you can see, they were all very happy to have made it! I was so proud that I was crying when Andy finished and didn't get a picture of him crossing the line - it is such a HUGE accomplishment and he has worked so hard! Next year he will take on the role of coach as he helps me train and runs the marathon with me. Congratulations to everyone from Greenville who participated and finished the race - you are truly an inspiration to us all!

Off to the races!

This weekend is the St. Jude Marathon in Memphis. Andy has been training since June and it is finally here. I am so incredibly proud of him and can not wait to watch him cross the finish line. Please keep him and everyone from Greenville that is running in your thoughts and prayers on Saturday! I'll post pictures when we get back. Good luck to everybody and stay warm!

Oh Christmas Tree!

We decorated our Christmas tree Sunday and it was so much fun. Usually I follow my rule about not doing Christmas until after my birthday but we are going to be gone the next two weekends so the rule had to be broken. Wenn was so precious! This is the first year she has really understood everything and she has been so excited! It is so much fun to experience Christmas with her! Now if Santa can only keep up with her ever growing list!

Cookies with Santa

Wenn sat in Santa's lap for the first time this year. Every other Christmas she was too scared to get close to him. It was a major break through. She even told him what she wanted for Christmas. She is such a big girl!

Sibling Class

Yesterday we took Wenn to Sibling Class at River Oaks where we will be having the baby. It was really cute and she had a blast. They taught the basic big sister skills - how to hold the baby, how not to hold the baby, changing diapers, gave them a tour of the baby suites and showed them a real newborn so she could see how tiny her little sister would be. She got a t-shirt and a certificate so she is now officially ready to be a big sister!

Honesty is priceless

So last night Wenn and I had dinner with Jamie and Keeton Murrell. We went to the Country Club and while we were there a funny thing happened. We were sitting there and Jim Allen walked by in a hat and a pullover because he had been coaching soccer. Wenn said "Why that man have a silly hat on?" so Mr. Allen turned around and said "You think my hat is silly, watch this". He then pulled his hat up where it was standing on the top of his head. The girls laughed and gave him high fives and he walked off. When he walked off, he pulled his hat off to reveal his bald head. Wenn then said "Why that man not have any hair?" of course, loud enough for him to hear it. He chuckled and came back again explaining that he had been shaving his head for a long time and that was why he didn't have any hair. He tried to get Wenn to touch his head but she would only give him another high five. Jamie and I were trying so hard not to laugh but it was hysterical. It really is precious how honest Wenn is at this age, a little embarrassing at times, but precious and priceless none the less!

Growing pains

Andy and I woke up to a thud followed by crying this morning. Wenn somehow rolled off the end of her big girl bed and the result was a big fat lip. She was fine until she looked in the mirror and then it hurt "really, really bad". Andy took her to get doughnuts before school so hopefully she is feeling a little better! I guess this is all part of growing up.

Goodbye pumpkin patch

This is the last picture of Wenn in her pumpkin patch. We went back out there Sunday afternoon to pick a couple more pumpkins before they get plowed up. It has kind of been our thing for the last couple of months to go check on the pumpkin patch and I am a little sad that it is now gone. We enjoyed it while it lasted!

Wenn's 3rd Birthday Party

Yesterday we had Wenn's 3rd Birthday party. Mr. Charles Ed planted Wenn her very own pumpkin patch out on his farm so that is where we had the party. We took a hayride out to the pumpkin patch and then came back and decorated the pumpkins, rode a horse and ate cake and ice cream. It was a beautiful day and I think everyone had a great time. Thank you to everyone who came and celebrated with us and a HUGE thank you to Charles Ed and Peggy for all of your hard work! Happy 3rd Birthday Wenn!

The Golfer

Yesterday Andy played in a golf tournament with Brian Phillips, Heath Douglas and Parker England and they won! Here they all are with their trophies. Wenn had to sleep with the trophy in her room last night, she thought it was so cool. Needless to say, we are quite proud!

Road Trip

Wenn and I took a little road trip to Louisiana this weekend. Thursday and Friday night we stayed with the Mills family. Wenn had a great time visiting with Myrt and got some good practice being a big sister. We went to eat beignets which Wenn called "pillow doughnuts". She loved them! We got to see Nick, Kate and Myrt's new house and can not wait to go visit after they get settled in. Saturday we headed to Baton Rouge for my cousin, John Taylor's wedding. Candace, Gabbie and Christopher came from Texas and Todd, Amelia and Jacob came from Jackson so all of the cousins got to play together. They were party animals at the reception and Wenn had a blast dancing with Uncle Todd (and yes, that is a tie on his head - as Wenn says "Silly Uncle Todd!). It was great to see all of my mom's side of the family and the wedding was beautiful! While we were gone Andy ran 26 miles Saturday for his marathon training. A marathon is 26.2 miles so he could run one tomorrow if he had to. He has done amazingly well with his training and I am so proud of him! Next year is my turn and I hope I have half the success that he has had!

It's a Girl!

Looks like Andy is going to be greatly outnumbered at our house! We found out yesterday that we are having another girl and are so excited. If she is half as wonderful as Wenn then we will be truly blessed!

Trip to Michigan

Last week we drove to Michigan to see Andy's sister. Yes, I said drove. It was great to see Ann Claire and her husband, Elias. They live in Grand Haven, Michigan which is right on Lake Michigan and it was beautiful. Wenn had so much fun with Ann Claire and her dog "Murpee" (a.k.a. Murphy) and playing monster with Uncle Elias. Wenn and AC adore each other and I think they will have a lot in common when Wenn gets older. The windmill is from a town called Holland that we went to while the boys were fishing. Wenn's favorite thing to do while we were there was swing in the hammock. AC is sending me some more pics. so I'll post them when I get them. AC we had a blast and miss you already! We love you and hopefully we will see you in February!

Summer fun with the cousins

Wenn had a good time playing with her cousins this summer. Christopher and Gabbie came to visit all the way from Texas and Jacob made the trip on a couple of weekends. It is going to be a blast watching them all grow up!

Auburn/Mississippi State Game

We made the trip to Starkville this past weekend to watch the Auburn/MSU game. Yes, Wenn has on her MSU cheerleader outfit because they won last year but she shook an Auburn pom pom the whole game. It was not a pretty game but she had a blast playing with friends. She and Mollie Mozingo got to rock Myrt asleep before the game then she and Brantley Nimrod danced the night away during the game. It was a great day and maybe next year the game will be a little more exciting.

Daddy's Girl

Andy bought Wenn a princess fishing pole at Walmart Saturday so after naptime they just had to go fishing. They started off at a pond behind Tim Clements shop but that didn't work out so they ended up at the Country Club fishing the "lakes" on the golf course. They caught quite a few fish but threw them back so they could go be with their families. Wenn loved it and even rocked one of the fish before they threw it back in the water. She and Andy had so much fun together and I am so glad that she is a daddy's girl. I just wish Andy would fix her hair occasionally when they are on their father/daughter outings!

The First Pumpkins

Mr. Charles Ed planted Wenn her very own pumpkin patch and these are the first two pumpkins! We are going to have her birthday party out on the farm and there will be plenty of pumpkins for everyone. She is so excited! Wenn is the only almost three year old I know that has her very own pumpkin patch - thank you Charles Ed and Peggy!

Granddaddy

Today would have been my Granddady's 82 birthday. He passed away almost six months ago and I still miss him terribly. We had a great relationship and I was his princess. It was a title I cherished and I was so thankful to have him in my life for 31 years. The first picture is of Wenn and Granddaddy at her 2nd birthday party and the one below is of me and Granddaddy taking a nap when I was around Wenn's age. It looks like he and Wenn are in their own little world and that is how he made you feel, like you were the most important thing and nothing else mattered. He was so much fun and so cool, he drove a Nissan 300 ZX up until he passed away. I feel truly blessed to have had him in my life and am a better person for it. Happy Birthday Granddaddy, we miss you!

Happy Birthday Andy!

Happy Birthday Andy! Yesterday was Andy's birthday and Wenn and I got him this seat for his bike so he and Wenn could go riding together. He also got some new running shoes and gear to help with his marathon training. She absolutely loved riding with him and looks so cute in her princess helmet. Yesterday they rode all the way to my mom's house for lunch and then back which is a little over 5 miles round trip. Good thing Andy is in such good shape because he is going to need some endurance for all of the rides Wenn is going to want to take!
